Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Are you kidding me?! Truly authentic Mexican food and LOTS of it for a very reasonable price! I had the Vaquero plate with tons of food and it was $10. Look forward to visiting again

After our pastor spoke so much about Mexican food, my husband and I began searching for nearby places on Yelp to try. We went right after church which was a bit busy, but not a terrible wait. The staff is extremely friendly. After 10-15 minutes we were seated and given our menus. They have a lunch special that's primarily for the weekday, but can be ordered if you add a $1. Within a minute or two of sitting down, a plate of chips, salsa, queso and soft tortillas came out. Needless to say, we were all hungry (I'm preggers)---including our year old son. Coming from the east coast I never had authentic Mexican and this was very good! From some of the previous reviews, native Californians might have a different opinion about the food. I think it's important to note how big Mexico as a country is, and the diversity in culture. There's going to be differences. The portions were super plentiful. Our son couldn't finish his baby tamales dish! Regardless of how busy it was our waiter was extremely attentive. We never felt rushed and enjoyed a very very tasty meal. The prices are also very nice here too. We'll definitely be coming back as my husband eyed someone's whole fish dish on the way out.

I moved to MWC area 6 yrs ago and I love Mexican Food...we were going to another Mexican Restaurant in the area, which has since closed and my Hubby said he used to go to Los Vaqueros a long time ago and we should go try it out again...Well what can I say but we are hooked lol...We are there once a week and he orders the Steak Fajitas everytime, The Fajita meat is so tender and delicious...I usually order enchiladas, but I am always up to trying new dishes...The Chili Relleno is absolutely superb...The waiters are terrific and will remember your orders...We love Jimmie...even if he wears a Dallas Cowboys hat lol...He did have on an OU Sooners hat last week...so he is okay...A Big Teddy Bear xoxo...Thank you for being our Favorite Mexican Restaurant in Oklahoma City area..

Total Delicious-ness! Local owners with awesome food! This place is in my hometown and never fails when I go back for a visit. I got fajitas and a beer (tons of food) and huge beer for like $12 dollas! The service is pretty good and it stays packed no matter what time of day. We were there for happy hour and the crowd kept coming in! Delicious!!! Try to go back as often as I can :)

I've eaten here twice and had great experiences both times. While they stay consistently busy, we've always been seated quickly and been well taken care of by the staff. I'm not crazy impressed with the queso and salsa, but it's still good..my kids loved that tortillas were served with the chips. The rest of our food was DELICIOUS and none of my party was disappointed. I recommend the Chile Relleno :)

Went here for lunch. Service was fast and the food was good. Not the Mexican food we are used to in California, but still good. Nice selection on the menu.

Great place, great price - staff is always friendly and remembers your name! Best part is COLD mugs unlike Ted's and Chelinos! & can't beat their price! 10 stars hands down!

I was disappointed when I had dinner here. I was looking forward to the mexican food in OK as compare to my home state of GA.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant ever. Everything I've ever ordered has been awesome. The flavors are great and it's always hot. I love the free salsa and queso that you get once you're seated. I always order the flat enchilada.

I love this place!! I have eaten here for years. This place is the most consistent Mexican food restaurant in the area. I love the Mexican tacos, cheese enchiladas and fried jalapeños and onions. Put them on a flour tortilla with butter and dip them in cheese sauce. I can never go in and not see someone I know. If it is a weekend expect a little wait because it gets busy. You can expect to pay $8 to $9 a person. They have special items to ask for chino beans they cost extra, special sauce, vegetables and jalapeños and onions.

Maybe being from California, I expect more. No carnitas!?! Two stars cuz I finished my food and the service was good. I'll try somewhere different next time.

I love this place, food is always excellent, and the service is the best. Chips queso salsa the best. Eat here once a week and will continue to eat here. 100 times better than Teds and the best Mexican in midwest city period.

Wasn't impressed. I can make better Mexican food at home for less. Not really tex-mex, not authentic. It's like it's just oklamexican.

This is one of my wifes favorites. The food is good but not the absolute best in the area. The enchiladas are a little greasy and the tortillas are overly mushy sometimes. The special hot sauce is delicious and they have incredible fried jalapenos! The food is very reasonable priced though and a great place for a fast lunch. Better than fast food for sure!

I've eaten here twice. I've gotten the shits twice.

This restaurant is great . I've been coming here since I started working in Midwest City and this is the best Mexican around town. My best dish in this place has to be the steak fajitas the portions are just massive . The service is fast but the place is somewhat packed a lot . No need to worry though they keep the line moving as fast as possible . The Mexican food was so good I even took my wife there and she agreed it was great . I will truly continue to visit this great Mexican restaurant located in Midwest City Oklahoma .

One of our go-to Mexican restaurants. Fajitas are good with guac & sour cream, beans & rice. They are tops at getting tables served & turned. Super friendly, hard working staff.

After a long wait we finally got a table for our group on Friday night. My overall feelings about the place weren't off to a great start while we waited. The exterior and signage definitely needed some work. While the bright fluorescent lighting inside didn't make it any better. When we were seated we had chips, salsa, queso dip, and tortillas waiting for us which was nice. The chips and salsa were pretty good but the queso seemed to come out of a jar and the tortillas weren't homemade which was a huge disappointment. We ordered the fajitas both chicken and beef. The food came out quite fast and we started chowing down. The chicken was pretty good although a but dry. The beef was tasty but I didn't like the way it just pulled apart. To me beef fajitas should not be too tender due to the fact that they are made from skirt steak. Overall service was good but this is definitely not good Mexican food.

I haven't been to this place in quite a while, and I've never been to this location. When I got there, the place was packed for lunch. It didn't take long for someone to come and take our drink order, though. The food was pretty good but nothing to write home about. I got the fajitas which came with a little portion of rice and a little portion of beans...also sour cream and pico de gallo. It was enough food to make two fajita tacos out of (big ones). It was just enough food to satisfy me for lunch, and it was cheap! The lunch order of fajitas was only $6.50, and it came with a sopapilla for dessert.

Don't be discouraged by the look of the restuarant, the food is worth it. Everyone gets a serving of mexican cheese and picate sauce with chips. Everyone is friendly and focused on customer service. I can't wait until my next stop at this play.

Very tasty mexican, a little hard to find back in the shopping complex, but I'm definitely a fan and a patron at least once or twice a month!!!

Me and my family have been coming weekly (if not more) since the doors opened. Cannot be happier. Management and waiters are awesome. Food is fast, hot and DELICIOUS!! By far the best Mexican food in Midwest City. I love the chicken fajitas with a side of fried jalepenos. Salsa is out of this world.

This restaurant's location is hidden behind some buildings. I thought the food here was mediocre or close to it. I ordered the Cheese Enchilada and it wasn't all that great. The cheese was very chewy. Every bite felt like I was chewing a piece of gum. I would've given this place at least a 3 star, but the water that they served me ruined my experience. The water has a chlorine taste to it. It wasn't very pleasant at all. Even though I didn't enjoy this visit very much, I'd be willing to give them another try some day.

This was great! The staff was super friendly and got our food to us really fadr. We had the beef chili rellenos and they were amazing! The chips, queso, salsa, and tortillas that came with it were freat. The tortillas were homemade and yummy just by themselves. We also got sopapillas for dessert and they were wonderful. Definitely going back!!!

My husband got food poisoning the night that we ate there. :( He was sick for days

Los Vaqueros is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, Mexican restaurant in OKC. If you're looking for fancy Tex-Mex food you just aren't going to get it here. The recipes remind me of what my family had made for generations. This is always one of my first stops when I get back to OK because it feels like home, all of the staff still remembers me and they are always so friendly!

Try the Tecate!! Frozen mug...hand rubbed with fresh lime...rim dipped in salt...amazingly delicious!!!
(3)Matthew L.
This place is okay if you don't know what REAL Tex-Mex is about. If you are from Oklahoma this is one of the better places, If you are from Texas, this is still one of the better places, but nothing even close to home. Fair warning.
(3)Matthew R.
Very good food for a fair price. We especially like their picante sauce!
